Hello, friends in time, and welcome to a regular feature on Cinema 52 where I put my weekly viewing of Back to the Future on hold and watch another time travel movie for comparison. This week, it’s the Rachel McAdams Loves Time Travelers Edition. While plenty of actors have appeared in at least three time travel films during their careers, Rachel McAdams has specifically played the romantic interest of a time-traveling character on three different occasions. And that’s odd.

First Rachel loved a time-hopping Eric Bana in The Time Traveler’s Wife. Then she… agreed to marry 1920s frequenter Owen Wilson in Midnight in Paris. And now: this. Judging from the poster, I assumed About Time was a meditation on why rain is so goddamn hilarious. But after I saw it, I realized it’s… about… something else. Okay, fine, I wrote this copy early because About Time debuts in American cinemas today, November 8th, 2013, and I don’t torrent because I’m better than you/stupid. So, in lieu of a fancy article with loads of screenshots, please join me as I exit the theater in a hastily filmed YouTube video available below.

Free Birds (2013)

Les visiteurs (1993), Les couloirs du temps: Les visiteurs 2 (1998), Just Visiting (2001)
