WHEN: 5:50pm EST, August 15th, 2013
WHERE: In my apartment in Portland, ME
FORMAT: Blu-Ray on a Vizio 47″ LCD HDTV
COMPANY: My good friend Hannah.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL STATE: Genuinely enjoying the film.
THE LADY IN THE DINO-DRESS:
For this viewing, I had the opportunity of showing Jurassic Park to my good friend Hannah, who had never seen the film before. Despite this, she knew that the film involved dinosaurs in some manner, and dressed accordingly:
So many dinosaurs!
What’s even cooler is that she made that dress herself. Hannah’s kind of awesome like that.
ENJOYING THE MOVIE TOO MUCH TO TAKE NOTES:
Hannah and I have been friends since we were kids, and it was really nice getting to hang out with her for the first time in the better part of a year. It was so fun watching JP with a cool person who’s never seen the film before that I pretty much forgot to take any notes whatsoever. But hey, that’s okay. The stipulations of the project are only that I watch the movie. I’m not required to have profound thoughts every week. While it’s cool to pick apart the parental relationships in the movie or discuss why Tim keeps falling from tall objects, it’s really nice to just sit back and soak it in for a change.
Hannah really enjoyed the film. As a costume designer, she had some comments, a few of which I will record here:
- Grant and Sattler look like they escaped from a 1990s L.L. Bean catalog.
- Newman has a really cool watch.
Look at all those buttons.
- She had a visceral reaction to Gennaro’s short shorts.
- She spotted lots of men wearing pink.
- “Most fake-looking leaf ever.”
At least Sattler seems impressed.
THAT’S ALL, FOLKS:
I 100% guarantee that my next viewing will be full of life-changing insights of the kind you can’t even imagine.
Till then, check out more of Hannah’s crazy-cool costume work here.
