WHEN: 11:30am EST, January 1st, 2012
WHERE: My apartment in Portland, ME (known commonly as Alderaan)
FORMAT: DVD on a Vizio 47″ LCD HDTV
COMPANY: Two friends, Carina and Sherwin, for the last 20 minutes.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL STATE: Sober. Tired, but comfortable.
REACTIONS OF NOTE:
– John Cusack looks like the actor from the BBC show Black Books.
– Upon Tim Robbin’s first appearance, I was pleasantly surprised.
– After jumping into the flower bed, John Cusack seems to leave a lot more mud on the fence than he should have.
– Joan Cusack was much less screechy than she often is.
THOUGHTS:
I enjoyed this movie. I really did. Not currently being in a relationship, it is weird watching a movie almost entirely centered on break-ups. It doesn’t really seem to resonate, but is still enjoyable.
I feel as though John Cusack’s character could be a grown up Ferris Bueller. He talks to the camera more than enough, and still does not take responsibility particularly seriously.
I will probably end up buying most of the records they discuss.
Also, I haven’t seen Evil Dead II yet.
