Let’s get it started.

Top Gun, everybody! It’s a movie! Heard of it? Would you watch it every single week of 2012? No, you wouldn’t. That would be stupid.

So here’s how watching Top Gun 45 times this year has affected my life this week.

Nov. 13, 2012
5:52pm EST – Read “Man Flies Flag Upside Down” headline as “Man Flies Upside Down.” Thought of Maverick’s inverted dive with the MiG.

Nov. 14, 2012
10:37pm EST – Read an article on coercive sex. Thought of Maverick.

“Touch it, slut. There’s money riding on this.”

Nov. 17, 2012
8:17am EST – Editing Ty‘s article on The Truman Show (viewing, Nov. 10). He mentions Classical Clive’s claims that an airplane was shedding parts and how that doesn’t happen. Thought of the time it totally happens in Top Gun, when Mav “hits the brakes” for the first time. [Really, a part flies off by accident in one shot and you can clearly see it. They mention it in the commentary.]

Just three results again. Let’s not over-analyze a good thing, shall we? See ya next week.
