WHEN: 6:00pm EST, January 19th, 2012

WHERE: In my apartment in Portland, ME (Alderaan)

FORMAT: DVD on a Vizio 47″ LCD HDTV

COMPANY: Fellow Cinemanaut Bill and his lady friend Becca

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL STATE: Not feeling particularly well. Had watched Atlantic City and Sophie’s Choice previously that day. Fairly tired.

REACTIONS OF NOTE:
– I hate the DVD menu my copy has. It is fluorescent and ugly.
– As little Rob and his friend watch Alison Ashmore make out with Kevin Bannister, one of them calls her a slut. Last two viewings, I wasn’t sure which one it was. It was his friend.
– Of all the flashbacks to younger Robs, I think John Cusack is least convincing in the Sarah Kendrew section.
– I wonder, would “We Are the Champions” be too mainstream for Rob? I’ve always felt it was a little out of place.
– Ian eats too much salad.

THOUGHTS:
Jack Black is still enjoyable after three viewings and one sleep-through. Most other sections are losing their humor, but Barry still gets me. I want to hear his whole Monday mix.

I am not sure I really like Rob. He is infantile, wimpy, and blatantly thinks only of himself. After driving Penny to tears, he only exults in the remembrance that it was he who hurt her, and not vice-versa. What a dick! He stalks his ex for several days, creeping around outside her new beau’s apartment, and calling them incessantly. What a creep! But, do I find Rob distasteful because I find these actions of his to be dickish and creepy, or is it because I see a little of myself in him? I’m pretty sure it’s the former, but I’ll keep you informed as I continue to evaluate.
